Location
The Craft Camp will be located in the woodland fields on the property of Ruskin Mill, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire GL6 OLA. A beautiful site situated in the heart of the Cotswold.

Accommodation
Bring your own tent sleeping gear, crockery & cutlery. Hot water shower & sauna available in the field.

Food
An important feature of the camp will be food preparation and cooking using a field kitchen and clay bread oven. All meals will be prepared and shared together. Staff will organize each craft group, who will spend one day preparing meals.

Craft Workshops
All of the craft activities will offer a comprehensive experience, in many cases starting with the process of obtaining and preparing the raw materials, and moving through to make a hand crafted item.

Many of the workshops are doubled to accommodate different age groups and interests.


Felt Making, Textile and Plant dyeing and Plant dyeing:

From Fleece to Felt, processing of and plant dying wool to produce felts to make a variety of simple items. Simple weaving techniques.

Leatherwork:
Traditional tanned animal skin for sandals, bags, belts and drum making etc.

Willow Basketry:
Using willows/hedgerow materials which will be processed in various ways, participants will be instructed in the traditional methods of willow basketry.

Green Woodwork:
Using the traditional pole lathe and green woodworking tools, various items of furniture will be produced with local woods.

Clay:
Digging our own clay for pots, building a paper kiln and Clay Bread Oven.

Stone Carving:
Using local Limestone.

Metal work:
Forge work, using homemade charcoal, in an Iron Age forge to produce traditional artifacts and tools , some copper work too

Musical Instrument Making & Bow making:
Making a pentatonic lyre and percussion instruments. Or other projects by negotiation.

Stained Glass Workshop:
Using coloured glass and Leading techniques.

Flags & Banners:
Make your own design using natural fabrics and pigments.

Printing:
Using traditional materials and methods.

Native American Style Crafts:
Making and working with rawhide and buckskin, incorporating traditional decorative techniques to craft a variety of items.

Pathfinder:
Featuring fire lighting, shelter building, wild food and a wealth of other activities based in the natural environment Sleep out alone one night.

Nature Workshop:
Nature exploration and woodland craft (8 – 12yrs.)

Children’s Workshop:
Fun and games, music & dance and nature exploration for younger children
(6– 7yrs)

Evening entertainment:
Stories for young & old.
